Dr. Harris is a Chiropractic Sports Physician attained Level 1 Certification with the Functional Movement Screen in June 2018. Under the guidance and tutelage of Dr. Lee Burton and Gray Gook, two of the co-founders of the Functional Movement System, Dr. Harris is now among a select group of healthcare providers that takes a closer look into the value of maintaining proper human movement and applying, or re-establishing optimal movement patters back into the normal daily motions of every patient.
In December 2018, Dr. Harris attained Level 2 Certification with the Functional Movement Screen under guidance from Brett Jones, one of the Master and Lead Kettlebell instructors from StrongFirst, as well as one of the lead instructors within the FMS corrective courses. The second level of the FMS screen dives further into corrective patterns and exercises that can better retrain various motor dysfunctions and movement patterns identified via the initial Functional Movement Screen itself.
The Functional Movement Screen can play a pivotal and vital role in pinpointing restrictions and limitations that preclude patients from maintaining proper and optimal movement patters. These sub-optimal movement patterns and subsequent movement compensations could potential predispose individuals to slower recovery, and potential future injuries as well.
